Energy Situation

There are many factors that indicate a breakdown in the country's
electric power supply as of 2010. In 2008, the risk of electric power
shortage is estimated to be around 9%, which corresponds to 2.600
megawatts.

Presently, there is a significant risk of a power shortage in Brazil,
especially in the South eastern region, due to the low reservoir water
levels at hydroelectric plants. The country's abundant biomass,
therefore, is a viable energy source.
